Smells that don't really equal eachother - but in a child's mind, they mean everything
The other day, H1 opened up H's top drawer. He very rarely wears any cologne, he wears it to church and if we are going out for the night. His cologne is in a lotion form and he keeps it in his top drawer. H1 opened his top drawer and said, "Wow, mom, it smells like church in there." I had to explain that, no church doesn't smell like that - it is Daddy's cologne. "Well, it still smells like church to me."
It reminded me of....
Growing up - I always thought towels that smelled like Coppertone "smelled like the beach" We moved to WI from the east coast, and when the towels would smell like that - I thought they REALLY smelled like the beach. The interesting thing.... I didn't make the connection in my head until my late 20's that what I thought the beach smelled like was actually Coppertone....
