BSF

Well, I got the call - Hannah and I got into the BSF program We will do it on Tuesday mornings. Whooo hooo. Ummm now.... I need to go do a full weeks worth of Bible reading by Tuesday I need to be caught up.

I am pretty excited, I totally did not think there would be an opening until next September. I ALMOST signed Hannah up for dance on Tuesday morning - so this will be nice.

Women's Daytime Classes
BSF classes began as a group of women meeting during the day. These daytime classes are still at the center of BSF International, accounting for nearly half of all BSF classes.

Participating in a weekly BSF's daytime class allows women the opportunity to have a meaningful connection with God and other women on an ongoing basis. The daytime classes attract stay-at-home moms, retired women, and businesswomen who are able to schedule in a much-needed oasis during the week.

The weekly gathering allows women the opportunity to gain insights from one another in discussion groups, as well as from the teaching leader's compelling lecture. In addition to the regular weekly class, BSF provides the structure to encourage women to read and study the Bible daily.

Moms with toddlers or preschoolers receive the added benefit of a high-level preschool program for children between the ages of 2-5 during their BSF class.

For women's evening classes, click here.

The women's daytime classes have an added feature for moms with preschool children: an outstanding children's class for kids between the ages of 2 and 5.

BSF's program helps introduce children to God and begins to nurture their lifelong love for the Bible in a safe and secure environment.

With gifted, trained leaders, the preschool program helps teach little ones about God and the Bible in age-appropriate ways, which continues as children develop in their learning abilities.

And, like their moms, little ones are encouraged to continue learning with their parents throughout the week. Best of all, the preschoolers' content is based on the same lessons their moms are studying in the women's BSF class.

Hymn Time ... children begin experiencing worship to God in song
Quiet Time ... after a short rest time, children participate in a quiet time spent thinking about God

Math the "EZ" way - Addition & Subtraction

I think most of you know already about H1's learning differences - but we went to a Math Class together last night and it WAS GREAT - Last night was addition and subtraction and tonight is multiplication. I was so impressed by the way that she taught it and the methods that she used with the kids, I signed up for it again at another community center so H could take it with her next week - this way we are on the same page with the "tricks" The double, the if, the 9 trick, the clock, the 10 circle, the doogie, the grandma, the unlucky number... it was really clicking with H1...

Then the subtraction came. You remember "Mom, I am a plus girl, I don't do subtraction." I could see her fighting it a little. But she was ok - some tricks I was so surprised at. I mean, I just learned the facts, I didn't need/want the additional cues. But I am all about finding out whatever will work for her.

And this one - for subtraction... you remember the words, bigger, bottom, borrow. That really clicked for H1. She knows how to borrow - but for some reason, she would get a brain freeze looking at it. This gets her over the "freeze".

A miracle worker

something that has enticed me to clean like never before... yes get ready - a true miracle worker... where all else has failed... this is coming to the rescue....

Stacking

This is what the cups are -

a couple of benefits

Ambidexterity
Using your left and right hands with the same ease and skill; very handy when it comes to dribbling and shooting a basketball, using the computer, playing the piano, sport stacking and much more.

Michelangelo, Ben Franklin, Einstein, and more, were ambidextrous.

Bilateral proficiencyEqual performance on both sides of the body — to be able to use both hands equally well. It requires practice.

Become ambidextrous and along with physiological brain growth, a more balanced integration of your two brain hemispheres will be achieved.

Studies have shown that ambidextrous people are more emotionally independent, more determined, more adaptable to new situations and more apt to handle problems without giving up.

Focus
The ability to concentrate.
Hand-eye coordinationHand-eye coordination - Having your brain tell your hands what to do and having them actually do it, like catching a ball or stacking cups.

H2's new passion -

Just fill it up again

So the other day, H1 is riding home in the car with our neighbor. The 1sy grader is asking about First Reconciliation and my neighbor asked H1 to explain it, since she just went through it...

H1 readily explains it like this -
"So you see, L, imagine that you write all the things that you do wrong up on the board. Like, not listening, hurting people's feelings, stuff like that... then you have to go into a room with the priest all by YOURSELF* and then you tell the priest everything. Then it's like magic, Jesus erases the whole board so it is clean...

.......Then you get to fill it up again."

does tamiflu make a difference?

Does tamiflu make a difference? We shall see... I really can see how this tamiflu makes a difference. Hunter who got the flu first, and got the tamiflu later in the game (compared to the girl's ) is certainly getting hit the hardest.

I feel like I have a mini science lab at my house.

  • I got the flu - didn't get tamiflu - was completely hit by the train and couldn't get vertical for 4-5 days and still feel icky on day 8
  • Hunter - hit with the super high temps him on Sunday - got tamiflu late Monday
  • Hannah - hit with the super high temps her on Monday - got tamiflu late Monday
  • Holly - hit with the super high temps her not until yesterday morning - got tamiflu late Monday (she will be the real test as she didn't even get the super high temps until AFTER she tested positive - but I took her in at the first sign of ANY raised temp - knowing we already had many positive tests

thyroid

while looking up a potential "natural" thyroid helper - I came accross this...
Iodine is not universally recommended for thyroid patients. Some practitioners believe that iodine is an irritant to autoimmune thyroid disease, and can, in particular, worsen hypothyroidism. Many practitioners do not advise that thyroid patients supplemlent with iodine unless a nutritionist has established that you are iodine deficient. For more information on iodine, click here..

This is so interesting, when I was 16 and going in for my first catscan I had an amazingly awful reaction to iodine.

After many ups and downs I was x'd with an autoimmune thyroid disorder....

It's official

All three of them are positive for Influenza A. Oh joy!
