So last night I have a small group of 7 kids who are preparing for first communion. The parents head out with the RE leader and I have the kids.
ALL I need to get accross at this first meeting is that the Eucharist is a meal. When we participate in mass, we are participating in a "family" (the church family) meal. Each of the kids are called by name to come to the table.
So... easy right? Right?
Uhhh...
here is a smattering of the questions that I got
"if you sin your whole life, but still believe in Jesus, do you still get into heaven?"
"Can people of other religions get to heaven?"
"How is Jesus the way to God?"
"Aren't there many paths to heaven?"
"What if you don't understand everything, can you still participate in 1st Communion?"
"Can you drink so much communion wine that you will get drunk?"

What insightful questions. How did you answer?
I think I would answer something like....
1. Refer to Belle's chalkboard. ;)
2. Yes
3. To get to the Father you have to get past the Son. :)
4. Yes
5. Sure, but try to understand.
6. Ask Michael Jackson. Or just, ask your mother.
